Studio51.com to close

Innovative online charity Christmas card retailer Studio51 is to close down in the next few weeks after it failed to reach the targets necessary to secure further funding.
Founder Alan Hawkes, a former vice-president of the Greetings Card Association, today announced that Studio51 would not be going forward to the Christmas 2008 season. He said that “the venture has been a success on many levels”, and confirmed that “all donations collected during 2007 have already been made in full”.
The service was launched on 1 August 2007 to serve the Christmas card market, and aimed to stand out from other online charity Christmas card services by committing to pass on 51% of the sale price to charities.
