Age Concern gets £1 million grant

Howard Lake | 2 January 2008 | News

Age Concern in Northern Ireland has received a grant of nearly £1 million from the Atlantic Philanthropies for a modernisation programme. Atlantic has made the grant under its Ageing programme.
The £990,000 award is to foster greater efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability in the voluntary and community sector advocating for and serving the needs of older people in Northern Ireland. This is to be achieved through increased collaboration and capacity building and by helping it to align itself with the changes in local government and in the administration and delivery of health and social services.
The grant is spread over three years. As well as Ageing, Atlantic provides grants under the categories of Disadvantaged Children and Youth, Population Health and Reconciliation and Human Rights. Between 1982 and 2005 Atlantic made grants worth $941 million in Ireland and $130 million in Great Britain.
