Drinkaware sponsors Crisis Consequences music fundraising

Drinkaware, the charity that promotes responsible drinking, is sponsoring a music fundraising initiative in aid of homeless charity CRISIS. Record sales and ticket sales to a music event next year will generate income.

Beth Ditto, The Enemy, Paul Weller, New Young Pony Club, Graham Coxon, Supergrass, Drew McConnell (Babyshambles), Ed Harcourt, Pearl Lowe and Andy Rourke (The Smiths) have formed a new ‘supergroup’ called ‘Crisis’ to help fight homelessness. Yesterday the band wrote and recorded a one-off track called “Consequences”, based on the well-known children’s game.

Jean Collingwood, Chief Executive of The Drinkaware Trust, explained their involvement. “The Drinkaware Trust’s remit is to positively change the national drinking culture in order to reduce alcohol misuse and minimise alcohol related harm”, she said. “We are delighted to sponsor the Crisis Consequences project which will use live and recorded music and online media to create nationwide engagement.”

The initiative will raise money through record sales and tickets to Consequences Live, an one-day music festival at The Roundhouse, Camden on 2 March 2008.
