EAPG seminar to cover new media and the law

UK Fundraising’s Howard Lake and Benjamin Beabey of Farrer & Co will be speaking next month at a European Association for Planned Giving (EAPG) seminar on new media fundraising and the law.

The event will feature online fundraising and in particular the opportunities of using Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, tagging and the numerous social media sites such as Facebook and Del.icio.us.

It will also cover the legal implications of this kind of fundraising, including e-commerce, trading online, and an update of the basics of the Data Protection Act and new ./guidance from the Office of the Information Commissioner.

It will also cover charities’ obligations to their website users and to third parties, including issues such as copyright, database rights, libel, and framing.

The event will be held on 29 November 2007 from 09.30-12:00 at Veritas Asset Management (UK) Limited on the 6th Floor, Elizabeth House, 39 York Road, London, SE1 7NQ.

Fees are £105 for EAPG members and £135 for non-members.
