Institute Announces Partnership With NCVO

Howard Lake | 8 August 2007 | Newswire

A partnership between the Institute of Fundraising (‘Institute’) and NCVO will host three strategic funding conferences for voluntary sector leaders. The aim of the three conferences – to take place from September 2007 to January 2008 – is to provide opportunity for learning and networking for voluntary sector chief executives, directors, senior managers, chairs and trustees, in addition to the chance to share ideas and best practice with colleagues.
The three partnership conferences are:
– ‘Planning sustainable funding for the future’, Thursday 20th September 2007
– ‘Securing and managing grants and contracts’, Tuesday 27th November 2007, and
– ‘Legacy fundraising from scratch’, Wednesday 30th January 2008
‘Planning sustainable funding for the future’ tackles this current issue for increasing numbers of VCOs. In the format of a series of case study-based advisory sessions from fellow practitioners who have ‘been there and done that’, the conference offers ideas and ./guidance for ensuring the continuity of your organisation’s work.
‘Securing and managing grants and contracts’ looks at how to ensure continuity of grant funding, exploring the increasingly popular route of tendering for public service delivery contracts. Speakers provide honest and open case studies as to how to make a case for – and win – funding through grants and contracts.
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising says:
We are delighted to be able to partner with NCVO to offer this new series of conferences.
Taking a strategic approach to funding is key to the continuation of successful fundraising in our sector and it’s our intention that these events will spark new ideas about sustainable and grant funding, and legacy fundraising”
Ben Kernighan, Deputy Chief Executive at NCVO comments:
The Voluntary and Community Sector have a range of funding options available to them but there is a need for strategic clarity when considering what is right for your organisation. In partnership with the Institute of Fundraising, NCVO is delighted to be involved in this series of conferences which will provide information and ./guidance on diversifying funds”
Speakers at the first two events in the series include Pat Samuels, Deputy Diretor, Public Sector Partnerships, Office of the Third Sector and Richard Gutch, Chief Executive, Futurebuilders England Ltd.
