Institute and UK Workforce Hub consult on fundraising standards

Howard Lake | 8 August 2007 | News

The Institute of Fundraising and the UK Workforce Hub are calling for opinion from the sector on the newly drafted national occupational standards.

The standards set out the skills and understanding needed to undertake paticular tasks to a nationally recognised level of competence. They reveal that fundraising has changed over the last few years, with new standards for grant fundraising, corporate fundraising, major gifts and direct marketing.

The standards have been redesigned to reflect better the role that fundraisers actually undertake, specifying the skills that they should be able to demonstrate and the knowledge and understanding that should underpin them. For the first time, the standards will also include the academic knowledge that fundraisers should have, defining what models, theories, frameworks and ideas they should know in specific roles.
