New National Manager For Institute Of Fundraising Cymru

Howard Lake | 15 June 2007 | Newswire

The Institute of Fundraising Cymru (‘Institute Cymru’) announces the appointment of Roy Norris as the first National Manager for Wales. Roy replaces Dot Griew, who intends to travel and pursue other interests after four years as National Co-ordinator for Wales.

Roy Norris came to Wales in 1985 and worked for the Welsh Office Agriculture Department in Cardiff and at Trawsgoed near Aberystwyth until 1993 when he moved to the Voluntary Sector Branch in Cardiff. From May 1995 to 2002, he was the Director for Wales of the National Lottery Charities Board (Community Fund) and from 2002 until 2006 was Chair of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.

Commenting on his new position, Roy Norris says: I plan to build on the work started by Dot to bring in more money and a sustainable future for the 26,000 voluntary groups and the people they serve in all parts of Wales. The Institute of Fundraising is a vital resource for all those who raise money for their cause and we need to ensure that everyone who raises funds in Wales knows what we have to offer”.

Dr Martin Price, Chair of Institute of Fundraising Cymru says: The Institute has made great strides in Wales over the past few years. Roy will be working with a strong volunteer committee to ensure the highest standards of fundraising, to the benefit of all charities in Wales.”
