IFI pledges ‚€13 million for border community groups

Howard Lake | 13 May 2007 | News

The International Fund for Ireland has announced ‚€13 million for border communities to promote reconciliation. Last year the IFI changed the emphasis of its grants policy to concentrate on reconciliation as the body winds down in 2010.

The new funding will be made available under the IFI’s Community Bridges Programme over the next three years. The Community Bridges Programme is administered by the Community Relations Council in Northern Ireland.

The IFI has funded a number of cross border programmes in the past as well as a range of community projects within Northern Ireland. In its early days the IFI had a strong interest in economic initiatives but has changed its role as the Irish economy has prospered.
