This year marks the 50th anniversary of Christian Aid Week, the UK’s longest running door-to-door fundraising week, and the theme is climate change. The humble red envelope will be promoted online and offline, as thousands of volunteers prepare to collect from door to door.

Christian Aid Week this year runs from 13 to 19 May, and is expected to raise over £15.5 million. The first week in 1957 raised £26,000.

This year’s campaign uses press, TV, online, direct and outdoor, and is expected to reach 20 million households in the UK and Ireland. The campaign focuses on the red envelope and how it can transform lives. Adverts show the envelope being transformed into origami shapes such as a tree or a chicken.

The online campaign encourages people to give online, but also to forward a virtual red envelope to family and friends.

Over 300,000 volunteers will deliver and collect the envelopes from door-to-door.
