Walkers Crips’ walkEARS website, supporting Comic Relief, derived considerable traffic from its presence on social networking site Bebo.

According to Hitwise UK, Bebo was the third largest source of visits from UK Internet users to the Walkears website in the week before Red Nose Day on 16 March. It accounted for 7.42% of the site’s visits.

Bebo’s home page included a sponsored link which promoted a “Big Bebo Takeover” contest encouraging Bebo users to design a Red Nose Day themed home page. Hitwise UK described this as “a great example of harnessing the creativity and energy of an online community, with recognition within the community as the reward.”
