DARLINGTON HOSPICE CELEBRATES EXCEPTIONAL FUNDRAISING SUCCESS
17/01/07
St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington has been enjoying an exceptional start to 2007, as proceeds from its Christmas fundraising campaign continue to flood in.
Throughout the holiday period, Hospice volunteers and supporters took part in a series of fundraising activities, including the annual Christmas Cracker concert at the Dolphin Centre, the Giving to Life Tree’ in the Cornmill Shopping Centre and the direct mail campaign, ‘Light Up A Life.’
A number of local businesses also agreed to take part in the campaign, selling hospice merchandise, offering donations in lieu of Christmas Cards and hosting their own collections and events.
Combined with the money raised as part of a joint local schools’ Carol Singing Concert in the Queen Street Arcade, these events have so far raised a total of £32,421.
All proceeds will now be used directly to fund St Teresa’s Hospice’s range of palliative and respite care services, including Hospice at Home, in-patient beds and specialist counselling.
St Teresa’s Hospice Director, Jane Bradshaw, said: Fundraising for St Teresa’s Hospice relies on the hard-work and devotion of our supporters and volunteers, alongside the generosity and enthusiasm of the surrounding community. Without those people, campaigns like the Christmas appeal simply would not be a success.
Every year we are amazed by the growing support we receive from the local community, which hopefully highlights how the Hospice is growing, not only in terms of local support, but also in the range of services we will now be able to offer. We need to keep this support going if we are to achieve our goal of expanding the hospice later this year.”
