UNICEF Ireland lands over $8 million

UNICEF Ireland and Aer Lingus have marked the tenth anniversary of their Change for Good(TM) partnership, which has raised in excess of US$8.08 million for UNICEF Ireland’s work worldwide for children.

The concept of the Change for Good(TM) partnership involves the in-flight donation of foreign notes and coins from passengers on all Aer Lingus long haul flights. Actor Liam Neeson, who launched the Campaign ten years ago, flew back into Dublin to mark the anniversary. Liam has been the public face of the Change for Good(TM) Campaign from the very beginning.

The partnership has received strong support from Aer Lingus passengers since it was launched in 1997 with on average, 1 in every 2 passengers donating onboard.

Aer Lingus Chief Executive Dermot Mannion has pledged his company’s continued support for Change for Good. Until recently Aer Lingus was a state company.

The Change for Good model is replicated by Unicef with other airlines throughout the world.
