Disability funds offered by Dormant Accounts

The Dormant Accounts Fund in Ireland is offering ‚€13.5 million in grants to support groups working with people with a disability. This is the latest in a series of application calls by the Fund which will distribute ‚€60 million in 2006.

Locally based community and voluntary groups are eligible to apply for the following types of projects:

— Small scale building and building enhancement projects in existing residential care units for people with disabilities;
— Provision of residential houses/units which allow for the transition of people with disabilities from residential care settings to community based housing;
— Aids and appliances for people with physical and sensory disabilities who are non-medical card holders.
— Grants for accessible transport to provide first time or enhanced access to disability day services / community services for People with Disabilities in rural and isolated areas.

Applications are also invited from eligible groups for the following two measures for which both REVENUE and CAPITAL funding is available:

— Projects which enable people with profound disabilities to attend and/or participate in special sporting events;
— Projects to support persons with a disability who present with severely challenging behaviour.
