LADBROKES PROVES A WINNING BET FOR
ST TERESA’S HOSPICE
05/08/06
St Teresa’s Hospice has been awarded a grant of almost £4,000 from the Ladbrokes in the Community Charitable Trust.
Originally established as part of the national betting chain’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Ladbrokes in the Community Charitable Trust (LICCT) currently works with a wide range of good causes, helping them to raise funds and tailoring initiatives to meet the demands of the communities in which they operate.
In 2005 alone, the Trust donated more than £900,000 worth of grants to over 650 organisations and charitable projects across the UK.
This latest donation of £3,907 follows a number of fundraising initiatives that have been held on behalf of St Teresa’s Hospice by local branches of Ladbrokes. Recent donations have also included a free World Cup bet worth £50.
All proceeds will now be used to help fund St Teresa’s Hospice’s purchase of a new £10,000 bathing system, to help make life a little easier for the charity’s guests.
Joan Machin, Manageress of Ladbrokes Salters Lane, said: As a company, Ladbrokes believes very strongly in social investment and all employees are actively encouraged to become more involved in their local communities. The LICCT was founded specifically for this purpose and to encourage a higher level of charitable fundraising nationwide.
St Teresa’s Hospice is a charity that is close to the hearts of a lot of people in Darlington and I am proud that we have been able to support their good work in this way.”
St Teresa’s Hospice Director, Jane Bradshaw, said: I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Ladbrokes for awarding us this grant. The money will provide a great boost as we continue our work to help the carers and individuals that are coping with a life-limiting illness.”
For more information about the LICCT, or to apply for a donation, please ask for an application form at any Ladbrokes unit nationwide.
