Kintera helps clients in face of new legislators' "email logic puzzles"
US online fundraising and campaigning service Kintera has explained to its advocacy clients how it is responding to the introduction by the House of Representatives and Senate of new ’email logic puzzles’, designed to prevent mass emails and spam.
The new Congressional defences mean that mass email campaigns by nonprofits using the Write Your Rep web forms are impossible, since each message can only be sent if the sender answers a logic puzzle designed to demonstrate that they are a person and not a mass-emailing software programme.
Kintera is adopting a dual approach. First, it points out that any emails not delivered to a political representative are held back and then sent by fax.
Secondly, Kintera says that it is working with “the legislative community to implement solutions that maintain the integrity of the relationships between advocacy groups and their grassroots networks, and Congress and their constituents.”

The company argues that “logic puzzles do not benefit the organizations and citizens trying to get their messages heard, or our representatives, who want and need to hear from their constituent base.”
