Study will examine new fundraising regulations

Howard Lake | 6 August 2006 | News

The Irish Charities Tax Reform Group (ICTRG) is undertaking a feasibility study on how the proposed regulation of the operational aspects of charitable fundraising by Codes of Good Practice (as proposed in the draft Charities Bill) might work in practice.

The agreed Code of Good Practice will be developed to manage and oversee the fund-raising environment and will be based on the experience of practitioners. ICTRG believes that it is crucial to carry out this work in advance of the introduction of the new regulation.

The project is being supported by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. The ICTRG has commissioned Mr Peter Cassells, independent consultant and chairman of the National Centre for Partnership and Performance and of the Centre for Nonprofit Management, TCD, to work on this project.
