Howard Lake | 16 July 2006 | News

Benet Middleton has joined the National Autistic Society (NAS) as director of communication and public affairs, where he will head a large department including fundraising, marketing, policy and campaigns, PR, communications and information functions.

Middleton is joining the NAS after six years at Diabetes UK where he was director of campaigning and interim CEO for one year in 2003-2004. Here he led the name change and re-branding of the organisation in 2000, raising the profile of diabetes and Diabetes UK at a key time for health policy in government.

Before that he worked for the Consumers’ Association from 1993 to 1999, initially writing for Which? magazine and latterly as head of policy working on a range of campaigns.
