A website set up to raise money for research into liver disease following the death of George Best has won an award in the BT GoldenEye T Awards, a Northern Ireland awards scheme for excellence in IT.

Georgebest.com was designed by local company idreamproducts.com for the George Best Foundation which was set up after the death of the local sporting great in 2005. As well as raising money for liver research the foundation will fund research into alcoholism and promote youth soccer.

In its first few days of operation the site had 8000 page impressions. As well as allowing online donations, George Best fans can download a tribute song for £2 with all proceeds going to the foundation.
