Major charity balls in Ireland now aim to make a profit of ‚€100,000, according to a recent newspaper story about charity balls. The article profiled four of Ireland’s leading ‘charity women’ who organise balls for Irish charities.
The women profiled were Deirdre Kelly, Sharon Smurfit, Miriam Ahern and Tara O’Connor who organise balls for Angel’s Quest, CARI, Chernobyl Children’s Project and Our Lady’s Hospital. The balls share a number of common traits, including involvement by wealthy ladies, expensive venues and high fashion.
The story provided an ‘average’ income for the standard ball which indicates ‚€250 per ticket for Dublin society balls, with most profit coming from the auction.
