British Energy’s staff have chosen Help the Hospices as their charity of the year for 2006-7, the third year that the company has partnered with a national charity. Last year the company raised more than £350,000 for The Prince’s Trust.

The company match funds anything raised by staff up to £100,000. Staff at British Energy sites across the country will be encouraged to get involved with their local hospice.

Bill Coley, British Energy’s chief executive, said: “In two years our employees have raised more than £500,000 for charity.
