Howard Lake | 30 March 2006 | News

Tomorrow Beryl Warren is going to sit on London Underground’s Circle Line and read the works of Elmore Leonard for 12 hours, aiming to raise funds for a trip to Mozambique organised by her church.

Beryl is starting at 08.00 from Liverpool Street Station going westbound, though she may change direction at midday.

Her aim is to raise £1,000 towards a trip to its twinned church in Mozambique organised by her church, St Mary’s, Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16.

Beryl Warren is a Franciscan with no financial resources to pay for her fare to Mozambique so in addition to this project has been cooking “lent” lunches every Monday. There is also a fundraising concert on 21 May at the church.

Beryl will be accepting donations on her way round the Circle Line and encourages supporters to join her on her ride.
