M&S launch promotion for homeless

Howard Lake | 25 November 2005 | News

This Christmas Marks & Spencer will donate 15 cents to the Simon Communities of Ireland from each specially labelled ‘Food to Go’ item sold in Ireland during the festive season. A similar on-pack promotion will support Shelter in the UK and the Housing Rights Service in Northern Ireland.

All money raised from this initiative will help the Simon Communities of Ireland provide much-needed support for homeless and badly housed people.

Neil Hyslop, Ireland Executive, Marks & Spencer said: We are delighted to offer our support to the Simon Communities of Ireland in the run-up to Christmas. The festive season is usually such a time of celebration, however for many it can be one of the most difficult times of the year and we were keen to show our support for those who need it most.

Mr Hyslop added: Simply by picking up a specially labelled ‘Food to Go’ sandwich, snack or smoothie, our customers can make a difference to the lives of many single people and families affected by homelessness this Christmas.

Simon Communities director Conor Hickey said the charity was delighted to be associated with Marks and Spencer and this scheme which will help meet the extra costs they face this time of year.

‘Food to Go’ products are sold at the 11 Marks & Spencer stores in Ireland.
