Funding for EU wide youth organisations
The European Union is offering grants to youth organisations which wish to develop stronger European relatons. The programme supports the permanent activities of bodies pursuing an aim of general European interest in the field of youth or an objective which is part of the European Union’s policy in that area.
Grants of up to ‚€35,000 are available for organisations working in the field of youth at European level. The funding is given to bodies whose activities encourage the active participation of young people in public life and society and help develop and implement youth cooperation across the EU. The EC will provide grants of up to 50% of a successful organisation’s operating costs.
The programme supports permanent activities of bodies pursuing an aim of general European interest in the field of youth or an objective forming part of the European Union’s policy in this area. In particular, these activities must contribute, or be capable of contributing, to the active participation of young citizens in public life and in society and to the development and implementation of community cooperation actions in the field of youth in the broad sense.

The types of project covered include:
–Representation of the views and interests of young people in all their diversity at community level;
–Youth exchanges and voluntary service;
–Informal and non-formal learning and work programmes;
–Promoting intercultural learning and understanding;
–Debate on European matters and EU policies or youth policies;
–Dissemination of information on community action;
–Actions promoting participation and initiative by young citizens
Organisations must be non-governmental, non-profit making and in operation for more than a year. They should be established in either an EU,
European Free Trade Area or candidate country and have active members in at least eight of these countries.
The closing date for applications is 1 December 2005.
