Cancer event falls below target
The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day has not reached its intended target in 2005 and is below the figure for 2004. Daffodil Day is the largest annual fundraising event run by the Irish Cancer Society to raise money for people with cancer.
Daffodil Day 2004 was the most successful year in the event’s sixteen year history with ‚€3.1 million raised for cancer care in Ireland. The target for 2005 was ‚€3.2 million but to date ‚€2.7 million has been raised.
The Irish Cancer Society mobilises 5,000 volunteers to sell the daffodil emblems throughout the country and it is the biggest fundaising charity event in Ireland.
