Regional winners of Voluntary Endeavour awards named

The regional winners of the Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour have been announced.

Now in its eighth year, the Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour are designed to recognise individuals and groups throughout the UK who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community.

There are four categories: young person under 18 years of age, individuals; young people under 18 years of age, groups; adult individuals; and adult groups.

The winners include 17-year-old Marc Shuter of North Walsham, Norfolk, who has raised £9,000 to take give other young carers a holiday. Marc looks after his brother Daniel who has Downs Syndrome and his father who is blind.

In each judging region, two awards are made in each category. Individual winners receive a medal and £50 worth of dining out vouchers and group winners receive a plaque and £100 worth of dining out vouchers.

From 40 national finalists four national winners will be selected. Each will receive a trophy, £500 worth of vouchers and a cheque for £2,500 for the charity or cause of their choice.
