Funders are in a key position to help promote awareness of the potential of collaborative working and to assist good practice, according to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations’ (NCVO) Collaborative Working Unit (CWU).

The CWU recently conducted baseline research into funders’ knowledge, understanding and awareness of collaborative working.

Those surveyed included charitable trusts and foundations, and government and local funders. About one third demonstrated wide general awareness of collaborative working and its possible functions, and many were already funding joint working in some capacity.

Encouragingly, the research reveals that 75% of funders recognised that they have an important role to play in collaborative working; and 65% said that they would fund collaborative working in the future.
