Impact of tsunami appeals on other fundraising appeals?
The Institute of Fundraising has launched a survey to establish the effect of the tsunami appeals on its members’ fundraising organisations across the sector.
The Institute is seeking responses from fundraising organisations in the UK via an online survey, the first time the Institute has used its site in this way.
The survey will be repeated in six months’ time in June 2005 to help track the impact on fundraisers throughout 2005.

Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising, said: “While it’s too early to identify the long-term effects of the tsunami appeal on fundraising more widely, most organisations will be able to look back over the past month and see whether there has been any initial change.
“The survey is intended to identify fundraisers’ concerns about the longer-term implications of such a large-scale appeal. This should give us a good idea of the real issues charities are facing at the moment and of how we can better support them in the future”.
One representative from each fundraising organisation is invited to complete the survey online. Each organisation that takes part will receive a full analysis of the results.
The closing date for the survey is 12 February 2005.
