Bango offers users SMS donation facility for DEC's tsunami appeal

Staff at mobile phone software and applications company Image Habitat in Birmingham have spent their own time developing a SMS donation service to be used by clients of Bango, the mobile content platform provider. The system can be used to donate to the DEC tsunami appeal.
Using billing services provided free by Cambridge-based Bango, donations of £1.50 can be made instantly, simply by sending the Text message ‘Go Give’ to short-code 87121. In return for their donations, people will be
directed automatically to a site where they can chose from a selection of specially designed wallpapers.

way as putting money in a collection tin.”
The Bango system ensures that donations can be made on any mobile network by any mobile handset in more than 40 different countries. Bango also provides a choice of
different ways to pay from adding the amount to the mobile phone bill to debit or credit cards. The donations will be forwarded directly to the central Disasters Emergency Committee.
