Schroders plc employees beat fundraising target for Macmillan
Employees of Schroders plc in the UK raised £568,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief, its charity of the year in 2004.
Schroders, recently ranked 5th in the Guardian Giving List, chose the cancer care charity to be the beneficiary of its fundraising in the UK last year, its 200th anniversary, with an initial target of £500,000.
Employee fundraising started in March 2004 with a ‘Stuck in the Box’ event with employees required to spend half an hour each in a mock phone box calling on contacts to help them raise as much money as they could.

Other fundraising efforts included a 900-mile sponsored bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats and an Olympic fundraising relay, with each passing of the baton resulting in increasing donations.
The money raised by Schroders will be used to fund three projects run by Macmillan.
