Christian Aid has raised £700,000 online in the nine days following the Asian earthquake and tsunami disaster.

Christian Aid’s online income for the appeal so far is four times that received in donations by the telephone.

Online PR officer Kati Dshedshorov told Reuters AlertNet: “a lot of Christian Aid supporters donated spontaneously. They already know us and our online donation page, so we concentrated on providing news and updates from staff and partners in the affected areas, which is what people want.”
