Charities Buying Group

Charities Buying Group, the bulk-buying service for UK charities, is set to save more than £2 million this year for its member charities.

Since Leonard Cheshire launched the Charities Buying Group (CBG) in Autumn 2003, 334 charities, with a total spending power of £600m, have joined the group. There are now 102 suppliers who have signed up to the CBG’s Buyer’s Directory. As a result, this year the annual forecast savings are expected to break the £2 million barrier.

Michael Hodgetts, Managing Director of Charities Buying Group and Head of Purchasing at Leonard Cheshire, is confident that this early success can be expanded upon.

“We have been excited by the response from both charities and suppliers,” he said. “When we launched we hoped that through the provision of quality and cost effective purchasing agreements we would be able to help charities become more cost efficient. We are delighted that charities of all sizes have joined us. Our aim now is to raise awareness across the sector to give every charity the chance to benefit from the service we offer.”

Charities Buying Group is free to join, and charities and not-for-profit organisations can do so online. Members receive immediate use of The Buyer’s Directory and a range of information that can help maximise their budget.
