Tesco raises £88,476 selling cartoon pin badges for RNID

Supermarket Tesco has donated £88,476 to RNID after selling pinbadges for the charity through 1,000 of its nationwide chain of stores.

The badges, which featured the Looney Tunes cartoon characters of Sylvester, Tweety Pie, Wile E Coyote and Taz holding musical instruments, were sold during February and March 2004 for a suggested donation of £1.

The badges were also used to raise awareness of RNID’s Don’t Lose the Music campaign as the backing cards included useful information outlining how to prevent damage to hearing caused by loud music.

The donation was handed over by staff from Tesco’s Crawley store because it individually raised the most money, £561.
