Viral e-mail campaign boosts traffic to The Breast Cancer Site

Hitwise UK reports that a viral e-mail campaign has resulted in a dramatic increase in traffic during October 2004 for the Breast Cancer Site, one of the click to give versions of the Hunger Site.

The site almost doubled its market share in Hitwise’s Health & Medical – Organisations category to 6% between 30 September and 7 October 2004. It jumped 1,496 positions out of all sites tracked by Hitwise during October; from 2,225 for the week ending 25 September, to 729 for the week ending 23 October 2004.

It remained well over the 5% mark during the remainder of the month, peaking at 11.4% on 21 October. Hitwise UK say that the site currently claims more than 8% market share.
