Barnardo's launches funny viral e-mail to promote sponsored runs

Howard Lake | 18 March 2004 | News

Barnardo’s has launched a viral e-mail campaign depicting fancy dress runners in an attempt to sign up runners to raise funds for the charity in sponsored runs.

The viral e-mail shows videos of six fancy dress runners, including a Statue of Liberty, Egyptian Mummy, angel and pantomime horse, training on a gym’s running machine. “It doesn’t matter where you run or what you wear,” reads the e-mail’s message. “Just have fun and help us turn your miles into children’s smiles.”

The charity is hoping to recruit runners with places in events from fun runs to marathons, and it is also offering places in marathons and half-marathons in the UK, France and the USA, which runners can register for online.

The e-mail was sent first to the charity’s 6,000 staff, and will then be sent to targeted supporters.
