Mercy Corps receives 10 times more online than offline

American non-profit Mercy Corps says it received $100,000 of credit card donations online in one weekend in the wake of the recent Iranian earthquake, ten times more than it received offline in the same period.

As well as being the response medium of choice for many people in the USA and the UK when giving to an emergency appeal, Mercy Corps found that it was attracting new donors online. Half of the online donations, according to the non-profit, came from Iranian-Americans who had not donated to it before.
