Remember a Charity campaign is one year old
The Remember a Charity public awareness campaign was launched a year ago by the charity consortium the Legacy Promotion Campaign.
One year on the Campaign says that it has significantly raised public awareness of its goal to increase the number of wills including a gift to charity; and therefore of ultimately increasing legacy income to the whole sector.
The Campaign cites the following achievements to date:
- the number of people “very likely” to leave money to charity in their wills has doubled
- 8% of those who have recently made a will say they have included a charity
- 4.6% of adults now say they have included a charity in their will, compared to 3.3% in December 2001
The Campaign now has 111 member charities, and has persuaded both HSBC & Barclays to send out its will guide to their clients.
For the next three years the Campaign will continue its media and partnership
brokering programme, coupled with government lobbying to get legacy information included through public sector channels.
