Today is National Internet Shopping Day

Howard Lake | 23 July 2003 | News

Today is the climax of the 24x7x2003 Internet Shopping Campaign by IMRG, the industry body for global e-retailing.

According to IMRG, Internet shopping will be worth £14 billion in 2003 and is doubling every year.

While focusing on for-profit commercial retailing, such campaigns should help build donors’ awareness of the ease, facility and security of online giving.

More than £12 million worth of prizes, offers and discounts are available from leading e-retailers as part of this major campaign.

Why today? 24 July is nominated 24×7 DAY, because it is the 24th day of the seventh month. The term “24×7” has become synonymous with ‘always available’.

IMRG’s primary target audience is the 18 million UK adults (38% of all adults) with access to the Internet who have not yet shopped online (14 million have), and the promotion will be directed particularly at women.
