British Heart Foundation launches TV campaign on cholesterol

Howard Lake | 18 June 2003 | News

The British Heart Foundation has launched a new awareness campaign to highlight the issue of high cholesterol levels and get the UK thinking more seriously about their heart health.

The campaign started on 16 June with a new TV advertisement. It features a series of animated characters worrying about the outward signs of ageing; getting wrinkles, losing their hair and deteriorating eyesight. All of the characters show scant regard for their health and especially their hearts. The 30-second advertisement will run for two weeks.

It is estimated that seven out of ten over-45 year olds have high blood cholesterol levels but are unaware of the fact.
