UK Fundraising News appears in HTML for first time
UK Fundraising’s free fortnightly e-mail newsletter has been published in HTML format for the first time this week.
UK Fundraising has chosen Charity Technology Trust’s “CTT Mail” to power its fortnightly free e-mail newsletter to 6,000 fundraisers. The newsletter has been published in plain text format since February 2000, and claims the largest and most current e-mail subscriber list of fundraisers and related staff in the UK. It provides a simple summary of all the latest news, resources, job vacancies and other additions to the UK Fundraising site.
CTT Mail is the latest technology service from Charity Technology Trust, a charity dedicated to increasing efficiency via the use of new technology. CTT Mail is a sophisticated e-mailer tool used by major for-profit companies which is now available for charities to use at very low cost.
CTT Mail is managed through a new trading company, CTT Communications (CTTC), and has already been used by 10 charities, including Red Cross, Samaritans, Diabetes UK, National Trust, Timebank, Royal British Legion, PDSA, and RNID.
CTT Mail aims to encourage charities of all sizes to use e-mail marketing by offering a fixed price for set-up and e-mail campaigns. CTT Mail will also offer a complete managed service. CTTC believes that charities can quickly reduce their costs of sending e-mail with CTT Mail to 0.5p per outbound message.

CTTC’s launch of CTT Mail started with the delivery of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal e-mail campaign, which was distributed to over 50,000 people on Remembrance Day. This was the first time that the Legion had extensively used an email campaign on Remembrance Day itself and produced an estimated 2,000 additional individual supporter actions on the day itself and thereafter.
