Making Christmas cards pay
Ian Kerr of Midas Charity Appeals offers an idea for boosting Christmas card sales next year.
There is muttering this Christmas about how little charities receive from the sales of their cards and their falling sales.
One way of making cards pay is to hold an informal Christmas card party in January with a charity’s networkers. Ask them to bring all their cards for a card party and devise categories for each person to select and then rank their own:

- Who have you been receiving cards from the longest and have they donated
- Who are the 5 wealthiest
- Who has sent you a card for the first time
- Who did you forget who would welcome knowledge of a self imposed guilt offering of a £100 gift in lieu to charity!
Each person uses the above or a variation to write 10 letters or make 10 phone calls.
(Caution – this only works with established networkers and is best done as an adjunct to another event or meeting.)
