The popular Web accessibility tool has been purchased from not-for-profit educational organisation CAST by Watchfire, the Web site management company.

Web site management company Watchfire Corporation has acquired Bobby„¢, CAST’s leading Web site accessibility technology. Bobby has been available at no charge for the past six years: every day it is used by Web site owners to test an average of 4,500 URLs for accessibility issues.

Watchfire is already offering a paid-for version of the software, but adds that it will continue to offer the free online Bobby service which will allow single pages to be tested for accessibility problems.
