Sport Relief’s premium rate SMS services launch this week to coincide with the World Cup.

Sport Relief this week launches its premium World Cup SMS services. The reverse-billed service costs 20p per message and offers news and opinion from BBC Sport. Sport Relief will get at least 7p of this, according to New Media Age.

The service is being run by wireless marketing company Flytxt, a BBC business partner. The campaign will be promoted in print, radio, TV and online.

There are no financial targets for the campaign which is an as yet untested medium in fundraising in the UK. Consequently it will run alongside premium rate phone lines to give donors a choice of response mechanism.
