Institute of Fundraising plans charities' costs Web site

The Institute of Fundraising is planning to create a Web site detailing the income and expenditure of the top 500 charities.

The Institute of Fundraising will write to the finance directors at the largest UK charities and ask for details of their income and fundraising expenditure for the past five years. The information will be collated and published later in the year on a Web site to be called charitycosts.info.

The public will then be able to compare charities of the same size or operating in the same area.
