SMS to underpin Sport Relief
Sport Relief, planned for next summer, will use SMS as a key element of its fundraising.
Comic Relief’s sporting offshoot, Sport Relief, will make extensive use of SMS for its fundraising next summer. The charity is looking at reverse billing and models that are appropriate for both adults and children.
Andrew Jones of wireless marketing specialist Aerodeon told New Media Age: “one of the biggest surprises for Comic Relief last year was the success of the Internet as a revenue stream.” Sadly this just demonstrates he hasn’t followed Comic Relief’s track-record of online fundraising success – £30,000 online in 1997, £330,000 online in 1999, and of course the £3.6m (including Gift Aid) for 2001.
