The colossal deal between AOL and Time Warner has been hailed as the world’s biggest corporate merger. AOL’s support for charities is likely to be enhanced by the deal. In addition to grantmaking via the AOL Foundation , AOL has also created Helping.org , a philanthropy portal. Among other services, the site handles secure online credit card donations for non-profits at no charge.

UK charities will, however, have to wait. The service is only available to US non-profits. On the other hand, given AOL’s major presence in the UK, it might not be long before helping.org extends to the UK.
