Charities welcome pre-budget statement

Charities such as the Charities Aid Foundation have welcomed enthusiastically the package
of measures laid down in the Chancellor’s pre-budget speech today to generate greater income for charities.

From April 2000, donors will, for example, be able to make Gift Aid donations of any amount via the telephone and Internet.
