Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 1999 set out to be a record breaking day of fundraising and it succeeded. The charity has broken all telethon records by raising £27.4 million so far. This is £7 million more than had been raised at the equivalent stage by the last Red Nose Day in 1997.
