Statistical software company SPSS is offering a free webinar to charities on 11 October 2005 at 11am.
The webinar will cover how Woking-based SPSS can be used to reduce campaign and donor acquisition costs by reducing wastage, understand donor profiles, and predict campaign responses and life time value.

The Youth Hostel Association (YHA) has voted to create a single charitable company with a revised objective in an effort to reduce the amount of time and money spent on administration.
The decision was taken at the charity's Annual General Meeting and the resulting company will continue to be named YHA (England and Wales) Limited, but will be generally referred to as YHA.

Legislation on Gift Aid on charity visitor admissions and memberships, which comes into effect on the 6 April 2006, was enacted in Finance No 2 Act 2005. In order to give charities time to prepare, guidance has now been published online by HM Revenue and Customs.

Grants of £500 to £5,000 in Lottery money are still available for community projects across England under the Awards for All programme and applications are being encouraged for the £40 million remaining to be allocated this year.

The Dormant Accounts Fund established in 2002 by the Irish government will reopen for applications before the end of the year. The Fund draws its money from bank accounts that have been inactive for a number of years and since 2002 ‚€60 million has been distributed in grants.

Hartlepool-based accountancy firm Horwath Clark Whitehill says that a new initiative from the American Inland Revenue Service (IRS) would benefit charities in the UK if a similar idea were transferred here.
Following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, the IRS has implemented new legislation to try to increase the amount of money donated to the crisis fund.
