I follow several blogs about fundraising and marketing, but am always on the look-out for others. Can you recommend any good ones? By good I mean well-informed, relevant, concise, updated reasonably often, well established (more than a few months old) and with that personal voice that makes the best blogs stand out. (I’m not looking for blogs about the wider charity sector, just fundraising).

To get things started, here are some that I use (listed in no particular order):

    DonorPowerBlog

    Raising More Money Weblog

    Hi Howard,

I’ve always found this forum to be very useful, although it does have its moments!

Anyway, having attended a few events with the Wessex Group of the I of F, we have set our own discussion forum up using this site.

It appears to be live, but I can’t add a thread/subect just yet – perhaps I’m missing something clever?

Although I haven’t seen them just yet, I understand that the I of F website also has user forums to enter and discuss within.

    Keep well,

    Jase

There are special interest groups covering a wide range of fundraising subjects on the I of F website.

Yes, but I was asking specifically about blogs. Not email discussion lists etc. I’m not aware that the Institute or any of its special interest or regional groups run a blog.

My fault. Working on resolving that now.

Yes, the Institute launched its forum on 28 January 2005. It is part of its Careerbank initiative, so is only for the discussion of professional development and “should not be used to discuss general fundraising”. As of today it has attracted 53 registered users, and 16 discussion threads comprising a total of 65 messages. The most recent message was posted six weeks ago on 11 October.

    Thanks Howard,

Sorry about the mis-understanding with blogs v forum. I’ll have to catch up with my computer knowledge sometime!

How about this for a link?

Another one to add to the list, this one focused on the US as it is published by the Association for Fundraising Professionals, but still of use:

I have set up a blog that will be of interest to legacy marketing fundraisers:

    http://legacy-man.blogspot.com

It’s main purpose is to inform people about meetings of the Northern Legacy Marketing and In Memoriam Group (part of the new IoF SIG The Legacy Marketing and In Memoriam Group.

I recently attended a talk on blogs and can see them playing an increasing role for fundraisers, together with podcasts (another subject all together?)

I’ve had a look at the blogs listed above and though many of them are American based i’ve picked up a 101 good ideas and areas for thought to improve my (and my charities) performance.

I’d really recommend people taking the time to have a read.

I’ve been so inspired, that i’ve started my own blog about my experiences/thoughts on fundraising in a hospice. There’s only 14 posts, but i’ve enjoyed committing my thoughts to paper (or internet equivalent!) and would be grateful for any feedback from people – either on the blog or on this forum.
