I wonder whether anyone can help me regarding lottery software. What are people using and how do they find it? And how do you integrate it with your fundraising database? The software that we are looking at seems to have the same functionality as our FR database apart from the drawing of the winning tickets – is lottery software worth the extra money? Or has anyone adapted their own database to do the same work? I am concerned that outside software will just mean duplicating the same work and would appreciate any advice.
Many moons ago I managed the annual prize draw for a well known health charity for couple of years – alongside other responsibilities.
From my recollection of that initiative, the kind of functionality you need that isn’t usually catered for by a normal fundraising system can include details of ticket numbers sent to agents/sellers, tickets returned, tickets sold etc. These sort of details of ‘agents’ who requested tickets and then sold them on the charities behalf formed the core functionality – the lotteries act required such details to be held.
The functionality to me seems quite straightforward – depending upon who your database supplier is, I’d imagine that they’d be able to develop a relatively simple plug-in that would be able to provide the functionality you need, at a relatively cheap cost.

Not sure if this will be of any help but we offer a lottery service rather than software- hope this is the correct place to mention this, forgive me if not as I’m a first time poster.
We use our current links with web sites and other distribution channels to reach new sources of fundraising through a lottery style product – we provide the full marketing and management facility on your behalf. We have never considered selling our own bespoke software but its something we would not say no to. Hope this is of some help.
